How do you know if a legislative bill is a good bill? I usually measure it by just how far the liberals will go in an effort to defeat it. How bad did things get for NC Rep Schaffer, the sponsor of this bill? A twitter attack was launched. Things got so hostile, I am sure extra security was warranted.
Rep. Schaffer is my hero! In spite of the threats and the relentless vicious attacks, Rep. Schaffer did not cower and did not budge an inch. She remained strong and defended H730. I think it is obvious Rep Schaffer and other NC House representatives that supported H730 made the needs of their constituents paramount in all of this.
Exactly who was Rep Schaffer standing up for by advocating for H730? I have friends and family members who are healthcare workers and are strongly pro-life. All the NC representatives who supported H 730 were fighting for the rights of those in the medical profession to be able to morally object to performing or participating in abortions.
Who else did Schaffer have in mind when sponsoring this bill? If H730 passes the NC Senate, then employers will have a right to opt out of insurance coverage for abortions. It also will ban abortion coverage under a state healthcare exchange.
Thankfully, H730 has passed the NC House in spite of heavy opposition. Now it has moved to the NC Senate. Will our GOP Senators be bold and courageous and fight for us to have the right to object to abortion? Will they protect our freedom to follow our conscience?
What about important pro-family bills like H711 that codifies into NC General Statutes parental rights as a fundamental right? Will the NC Senate produce some heroes like Rep. Schaffer that will go to the floor and fight for the rights of parents to determine the care and upbringing of their children?
The NC House worked hard to get some important pro-life and pro-family legislation passed. Now it is up to the NC Senate to finish the task. Will our senators in NC stand up to the bullies?
The opponents to these bills will make their voices heard loud and clear. What about you? Are these bills that you care about? If so, please take time to call your NC senators TODAY (find your NC Senator here) and ask them to stand strong and do everything in their power to see to it that H711 and H730 get passed! Thank you!
