Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who called your senators! I know some of you emailed me to let me know you called your senator’s office for the very first time.  I am thrilled to be able to let y’all know that as a result of your calls – UN CRPD was not ratified and the Senate is now in recess.

Also thank you to everyone who shared my post and helped get the word out. Let’s continue to hold our Senators accountable!

The Senate adjourned in the middle of the night last night. It will not reconvene until after the November election.  THE UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was not called up for a vote.

Your calls worked!!!  We have won this ROUND of the battle.  This is a great victory.

But the war is not over.

We need to make sure of two things:

1. We work hard to elect Senators and a President who believe in the sovereignty of the United States and who will reject these kinds of UN treaties.

2. We need to be prepared for an all-out battle in the lame duck session (after the election and before the new Senate comes to office in January.)

But for today, celebrate our victory.  Our success really galls people like John Kerry, Dick Durbin, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.  Go have some ice cream!  Put some toppings on it.  Have seconds.” – Michael Farris
