As I previously discussed the possibility, NC NAACP has now publicly announced it will pursue civil disobedience in response to the voter ID bill that passed the NC House last week. William Barber, President of NC NAACP called on other activist groups Sunday evening at Pilgrims United Church of Christ in Durham, North Carolina to issue a call “to prayer, to protest and to non-violent disobedience.”
Rev. Barber of NC NAACP also came on MSNBC today to discuss his two pronged plan for civil disobedience and legal action coordinated with other civil rights organizations. According to Barber, they “plan to protest in the streets and in the courts”. Hearing of this organized strategy and all the member groups involved should remind us of how committed NC NAACP is to BluePrint NC and their agenda.
How far will Barber go in his efforts to overturn the will of the people of NC and promote BluePrint’s agenda instead? Watch the link from MSNBC above and you will hear Barber’s inflammatory words. Accusing the NC GOP of race based and class based attacks is laughable when you listen to how Rev. Barber refers to TEA partiers as “George Wallaces of the 21st century” and voter ID as being a part of a “white southern strategy being revisited with a 21st century twist.” Excuse me, Rev. Barber, but who is being the racist here?
Of course, Barber hopes spewing such vitriol will incite public anger and pull away some of the seventy percent or more of NC voters who support voter ID. The level of energy that Barber will expend to promote the radical liberal agenda of BluePrint NC is appalling to me. He purports doing it all for the sake of the black community and to help the poor and the oppressed. If that was what Barber really cared about, he would be calling for prayer and protests at abortion clinics in minority communities where black genocide is occurring at horrifying rates.
The NC NAACP is calling for clergy and students to have a “pray-in” to protest voter ID from 3- 6 pm Monday afternoon. I hope my conservative friends will join me in exposing the truth behind NAACP’s hateful , divisive agenda and the hypocrisy of an organization that willfully ignores the pleas of the weak and oppressed in their own communities.
