A Lesson in Authenticity of the Messenger

December 12, 2013

imageThe whole Nelson Mandela thing was never meant to be an exercise in comedy, but I cannot help but laugh at the images coming out of that event. First there is President Obama taking a picture of himself and the hottie Danish Prime Minister next to him, while Michele looks like she just swallowed a sword.

Then there is Obama speaking his “heartfelt” words (before or after mugging for his self photo in the middle of the solemn memorial?) and the man “signing” for the deaf right next to him is signing completely unintelligible nonsense. If those two vignettes from the event don’t capture the spirit of this presidency…I don’t know what does.

But longing to speak a message of hope in this season celebrating the birth of our savior, take a gander at this little girl signing her Christmas concert for her deaf parents. She doesn’t use a TelePrompTer; she doesn’t fear being unique and strong in doing what is right because it is right; she has no concern for her legacy, or her image. All that matters to her is being courageous and loving and righteous no matter what those around her think. I think our president may want to study this video.
